The Eno interactive whiteboard at
Newton North High School

Newton North is a large high school outside of Newton, MA, which underwent a major remodeling and reconstruction in 2010. ADTECH Systems became involved through Paul Shapiro, a technology consultant hired by the school and Dore & Whittier Architects, Inc.

Newton North had long used interactive whiteboards and wanted to install them in each of the remodeled classrooms, but they didn’t have the budget to make that possible. We showed Shapiro the new Eno whiteboard, and he realized that its simplified installation would allow the school to equip many more classrooms than would be possible with the better-known board they had been using. Budget was not the only consideration, however. The board they chose would need to meet the educational objectives of the school and satisfy teachers who were already very familiar with the use of interactive whiteboards.

In March, 2009, Shapiro set up a pilot program where each of the major vendors set up their boards in several classrooms. Instructors in various subject areas taught with each of the boards and reported back to the technology committee. After using the boards for several weeks, the teachers overwhelmingly preferred the Eno interactive whiteboard. It was a win-win in that the school was able to find a superior system that it could afford to install in all of their classrooms. During the summer of 2010, ADTECH Systems installed Eno whiteboards and ultra short-throw projection systems in 119 classrooms at Newton North
