LifeSize Video Conferencing

LifeSize Communications offers highly innovative audio and video conferencing systems known for their high quality, low latency and cost leadership.

LifeSize was the first in market with high definition video conferencing (2005) and, more recently, the first in market with an HD solution under $2,500. Since their products communicate over IP networks, the total cost of ownership is also quite low.

LifeSize offers a variety of hardware solutions:

• High definition video conferencing endpoints

• Infrastructure products including secure firewall/NAT traversal, ISDN to IP Gateway, and 12 and 24-port high definition MCUs (Multipoint Control Units).

• LifeSize Phone high definition audio conferencing units

ADTECH Systems has installed a large number of LifeSize-based systems, especially for corporate and educational customers. Many New England high schools have found using LifeSize video conferencing products can help them afford high definition for their distance learning classrooms. University and high school clients have also found the LifeSize Video Center a very affordable, highly useful video capture and streaming solution for webcasts and podcasts of lectures and classes.

Most often we work with our clients on a design/build basis, where we analyze their needs and their budget, recommend a solution, create CAD drawings, program, fabricate, and install the new system, then train its users and technical staff.

We also regularly work with AV consultants and architects to provide AV integration services.

LifeSize Video Conferencing at Myriant Technologies, LLC

Myriant Technologies is a Quincy, MA-based biotech firm with research and development and manufacturing facilities in Woburn, Massachusetts, Clearfield, Pennsylvania and Lake Providence, Louisiana.

During the summer of 2008 we demonstrated an installed LifeSize video conferencing system to the company’s IT director, who was very impressed by its high image quality, its ability to communicate with no discernable delay and its ability to share data simultaneously with an HD video call. After several discussions of his needs and budget, we designed a system to be used in five company conference rooms using a LifeSize videoconferencing codec in conjunction with the LifeSize Phone VOIP audio product, an installed sound system plus an installed video system using projection and a flat-panel displays. In early 2009 we engineered, programmed and installed the systems in their Quincy and Woburn facilities. In the spring of 2010, we supplied two additional systems for the company’s Clearfield and Lake Providence plants, which the Myriant IT department installed on their own. These consist of a LifeSize codec, camera and audio unit, each used with a flat-panel LCD display.

One nice benefit of the Myriant systems is provided by the use of a LifeSize multipoint codec in one of the Quincy conference rooms. This unit can connect to as many as six additional systems, allowing Myriant to include all of their facilities in a single call without the need for a separate bridge or bridging service. Since all of their LifeSize systems are standards-based, they are also able to connect to customer and supplier sites with either audio/video or audio-only calls.
