Strength Prediction Criterion

Figure 1 depicts the dialog box of an average stress failure criterion with an explanation for the parameters involved in the net-section, bearing and shear-out failure modes in bolted joints. In addition to the average stress failure criterion, the user has the option to select point stress, maximum strain and Tsai-Hill/Hoffman failure prediction criterion as well. Further, the single-fastener bolted joint design can also account for a bi-linear ply material behavior.
