ABSTRACT
Ceramic
matrix composite (CMC) materials have been used
to manufacture high-temperature aero-propulsion
systems, which are subjected to both thermal cyclic
and mechanical cyclic loading. A thermo mechanical
fatigue test system was designed in the present
study to apply both thermal spectrum and mechanical
spectrum leading to CMC plates with a central
circular hole. The thermo mechanical fatigue life
of CMC specimens under complex spectrum loading
can be studied using this test system, as well
as other high-temperature structural materials.
In the present study, the thermal mechanical fatigue
behavior of a ceramic matrix composite was investigated
using this test system. The accumulated damage
in the specimens due to thermo mechanical fatigue
was studied as well.
